Continuous Internal Control

Stay in control of financial risks in Oracle ERP

Move beyond periodic samples. Use Celonis to continuously assess your Oracle EBS and Fusion transactions against control rules, investigate exceptions and focus attention where it matters.

From sampling to continuous insight

Periodic checks examine only part of your transactions. With connected Oracle data, control rules can be applied to the full available dataset and reassessed at every data refresh. Continuous Internal Control combines process analysis with financial controls for public and private organisations.

  • Broader insight into exceptions and risks
  • Focused follow-up with process context
  • Substantiated control findings with traceable data

Six examples of financial controls

Segregation of duties

Investigate whether the same user performs conflicting actions, such as entering an invoice and carrying out a critical payment action. Requires user identities and relevant action history.

Example signal

  • The same user entered an invoice and performed a critical payment action.

Retrospective purchasing

Identify purchase orders created after receipt of the invoice and invoices without a purchase order match. These are separate signals to review in their process context.

Example signal

  • Purchase order created after invoice receipt.
  • Invoice has no purchase order match.

Approval compliance

Investigate missing approvals and deviations from configured authorisation limits. Requires approval history and the applicable authorisation rules.

Example signal

  • An invoice exceeds the configured approval limit without a recorded approval from the required approver.

Purchase order overspend

Identify purchase orders where the invoiced amount exceeds the ordered amount, allowing for configured tolerances and comparable currencies.

Example signal

  • Invoices total EUR 10,800 against a EUR 10,000 order, beyond a configured 5% tolerance.

Potential duplicate invoices

Identify potential duplicates using combinations of supplier, invoice number, amount and date. The Duplicate Invoice Checker remains available as an independent accelerator.

Example signal

  • Two invoices have the same supplier and amount, similar invoice numbers and dates close together.

Sensitive supplier changes

Investigate supplier bank-detail changes shortly before payment. Requires change history, timestamps and payment data. The IBAN Checker provides complementary bank-detail validation: IBAN validation and change analysis are different controls.

Example signal

  • Supplier bank details changed one day before a recorded payment.

From signal to substantiated finding

Investigate a signal using the transactions, users and timestamps involved, together with available changes and approvals. Follow-up can align with existing working practices and, where configured, Celonis Action Flows.
